Job summary

WHC Group is seeking a Specialist Learning Support Assistant to empower learners with SEND at Cross College. You will provide targeted one-to-one and small group interventions, collaborating with curriculum staff to enable access and progression in education.

You will support learners with SEN, promote independence, and contribute to inclusive practice across campuses in Luton, Watford, and Hemel Hempstead, with travel between sites.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting people with SEND and knowledge of SEND support strategies.
• Experience delivering targeted interventions and promoting learner independence.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• A proactive, reflective and solutions-focused approach.
• A genuine commitment to inclusion and improving outcomes for learners.

Responsibilities

• Deliver tailored one-to-one and small group interventions to develop study skills, independence and confidence.
• Support learners with SEND needs, including those with EHCPs.
• Work with teaching staff to adapt teaching approaches and learning materials.
• Promote inclusive learning strategies and the use of assistive technologies.
• Monitor learner progress, attendance and engagement, using data to inform interventions.
• Support transition processes, including school liaison, taster sessions and learner assessments.
• Provide specialist advice, guidance and training to staff to promote inclusive practice.
• Contribute to quality assurance and continuous improvement of SEND.
