Job summary

Alton Park Junior School is seeking a dedicated Learning Support Assistant to work with class teachers and support learning in line with the national curriculum. The role focuses on helping pupils feel safe, happy and valued while contributing to a positive classroom environment.

Key duties include supporting individuals or small groups, implementing planned activities, promoting literacy and numeracy, and assisting with ICT use. NVQ Level 2 in Learning Support or equivalent is advantageous.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children in a school/early years environment.
• Experience working with children with SEMH needs.
• Basic knowledge of First Aid and understanding of school policies.

Responsibilities

• Work with individuals or small groups under teaching staff direction.
• Implement planned learning activities and adjust as appropriate.
• Establish positive relationships with pupils and support literacy and numeracy.
• Promote ICT use in the classroom and develop pupils' independence.
• Support positive pupil behaviour in line with policies.
