Job summary

Wymeswold Church of England Primary School is seeking a Learning Support Assistant to work under the supervision of the class teacher. You will provide general classroom support and assist SEN pupils to access the curriculum and participate in school life.

The role may involve supporting individuals or small groups in class or withdrawal areas, in line with school policies and procedures.

Qualifications

  • NVQ Level 2 in Supporting Teaching and Learning or equivalent.
  • Experience of supporting teaching and learning in a formal setting.
  • Knowledge of child protection and health and safety procedures.
  • Ability and willingness to undertake professional development.

Responsibilities

  • Support the class teacher with general classroom activities and SEN pupils to enable curriculum access.
  • Assist individual children in class or work with small groups in classroom or withdrawal area.
  • Follow school policies and procedures in all duties.

Job description

  • The Learning Support Assistant will work under the direct supervision ofthe class teacher and will be involved in general classroom support, as well asprovide support for SEN pupils to enable them to access the school curriculumand engage in all aspects of school life, in accordance with school policiesand procedures. This may include supporting individual children in class, and workingwith small groups of children, both in the classroom setting or in a designatedwithdrawal area.
  • NVQ Level 2 in Supporting Teaching and Learning, orequivalent.
  • Experience of supporting teaching and learning in a formal setting.
  • Knowledge of child protection and health and safetyprocedures.
  • Ability and willingness to undertake professional development.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Empathy with children and young people.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • An ability toperform all duties and tasks within the job description.
