Job summary

Copford CofE Primary School in Essex is seeking an enthusiastic SEND Learning Support Assistant to join our dedicated team. You will provide targeted support to pupils with EHCPs to help them access learning and achieve their individual outcomes.

You will work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to adapt activities, support communication and social skills, and monitor progress, while safeguarding pupils and maintaining confidentiality.

Qualifications

• Patient, caring, calm and encouraging with commitment to helping children with SEND.
• Experience in supporting children in a primary school; EHCPs or SEND needs advantageous.
• Clear, respectful communicator able to build relationships with pupils, families and professionals.
• Observant and reflective; able to follow plans and respond to individual needs.
• Reliable, well-organised, able to work independently or as part of a team.
• Willing to undertake relevant training and apply specialist guidance.

Responsibilities

• Deliver targeted one-to-one and small-group support in line with EHCPs and agreed outcomes.
• Adapt learning activities and resources so pupils can access the curriculum.
• Support development of communication, interaction, emotional regulation, social skills, independence and self-care.
• Promote positive behaviour and wellbeing through routines and de-escalation strategies.
• Observe pupils, record progress and provide feedback to teachers and SENCO.
• Liaise with colleagues, families and external professionals while maintaining confidentiality.
• Support pupil safety and welfare following safeguarding policies.
