Job summary

TeacherActive Limited is seeking a dedicated SEND Learning Support Assistant for a welcoming school in Southend-on-Sea. The role involves supporting pupils with SEND throughout the school day, five days a week, in a caring and inclusive environment.

The successful candidate will work closely with teachers and SEND professionals, providing one-to-one and small-group support, helping pupils with learning, communication and engagement, and contributing to a calm, positive learning atmosphere.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children with additional needs (SEND)
• Patient, caring and resilient approach
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to build positive, trusting relationships with pupils
• Confidence supporting pupils with individual needs
• Proactive attitude and willingness to get involved
• Commitment to pupils' learning, development and wellbeing

Responsibilities

• Provide one-to-one and small-group support to pupils with additional needs
• Support pupils with learning, communication and engagement
• Assist the class teacher with differentiated classroom activities
• Help pupils develop confidence, independence and social skills
• Support pupils' emotional regulation and behaviour where required
• Follow individual support plans and strategies
• Create a calm, positive and safe learning environment
• Work closely with teachers, SEND professionals and support staff
• Support pupils with personal care where required
