Job summary

St Richard's Catholic Primary School in Chichester is seeking a caring Teaching Assistant to join a supportive staff team. The role focuses on assisting pupils with EHCPs and other barriers to learning, including individual, small-group and classroom support to access learning and develop social skills.

The successful candidate will work closely with our SENCO and teachers, building positive relationships and promoting independence with a calm, patient approach and commitment to SEND training.

Qualifications

• Experience with primary-age children, preferably including SEND.
• Patience, calm, adaptable and positive approach to supporting children with barriers to learning.
• Ability to build warm, positive and professional relationships with children.
• Understanding that behaviour can be a form of communication and the ability to respond positively.
• Willingness to undertake relevant SEND training.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality support for pupils with EHCPs and other barriers to learning.
• Support individual, small-group and classroom learning.
• Help pupils access learning, develop communication and social skills, regulate emotions and behaviour.
• Support pupils to become increasingly independent.
