Job summary

TeacherActive is working with a welcoming school in Southend that supports pupils with a range of special educational needs and disabilities. The school is looking to appoint a dedicated SEND Learning Support Assistant to provide support across the school day, five days a week.

The successful candidate will deliver one-to-one and small-group support, assist with learning, communication and engagement, and work closely with teachers and SEND professionals to create a calm, inclusive learning

Qualifications

• Experience working with children, young people or adults with additional needs.
• Patient, caring and resilient approach.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to build positive and trusting relationships with pupils.
• Commitment to supporting pupils' learning, development and wellbeing.

Responsibilities

• Providing one-to-one and small-group support to pupils with additional needs.
• Supporting pupils with their learning, communication and engagement.
• Assisting the class teacher with differentiated classroom activities.
• Helping pupils develop their confidence, independence and social skills.
• Supporting pupils with their emotional regulation and behaviour where required.
• Following individual support plans and strategies.
• Creating a calm, positive and safe learning environment.
• Working closely with teachers, SEND professionals and other support staff.
• Supporting pupils with personal care where required.
