Job summary

Connex Education Partnership is recruiting an experienced SEND Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support for pupils with SEND and SEMH in the Hinckley area. The role is a supply position, with potential for extension or permanent opportunities for the right candidate.

We welcome compassionate, resilient practitioners who can build calm, trusting relationships and adapt their approach to individual needs, ensuring pupils feel safe, engaged and able to progress in a supportive classroom.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting children with SEND and/or SEMH in a school or specialist setting.
• Experience providing 1:1 support or working with small groups of pupils.
• Strong behaviour-management skills with calm, consistent responses to challenging situations.
• Ability to build positive, trusting relationships with pupils facing barriers to learning.
• Good understanding of emotional regulation and safeguarding; consistent support.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with a patient, proactive approach.
• Have a current Enhanced DBS on the update service or willing to process a new one.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 support to pupils with additional needs.
• Adapt approach to meet individual pupil needs and promote engagement in learning.
• Collaborate with teachers and professionals to maintain a safe, structured learning environment.
• Support pupils to progress and feel understood and encouraged.
