Job summary

Connex Education Partnership is seeking an experienced 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support pupils with SEND in mainstream primary schools across Weston-super-Mare. The role focuses on academic, social and emotional development, with tailored one-to-one support and close collaboration with class teachers and SENCOs.

Ideal candidates will have SEND/SEMH experience, a patient and empathetic approach, and a commitment to equality and safeguarding. Various short- and long-term placements are available.

Qualifications

• Previous experience supporting pupils with SEND and/or SEMH is essential.
• Experience as a 1:1 Teaching Assistant or in a similar support role is desirable.
• Strong understanding of additional needs and individual learning requirements.
• Commitment to equality, inclusion and safeguarding responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Provide dedicated one-to-one support to pupils with SEND and SEMH needs.
• Support pupils’ academic, social and emotional development.
• Adapt learning activities to meet individual needs.
• Support pupils with emotional regulation and positive behaviour.
• Build positive relationships with pupils and staff.
• Work with teachers and SENCOs to implement support plans.
• Create a safe, inclusive learning environment.
• Monitor progress and report to teaching staff.
