Job description

The EMEA Cell Culture Field Application Specialist is responsible for establishing technical credibility with customers by providing expert guidance on Cytiva's technologies and applications, collaborating with R&D and sales teams to co‑develop tailored solutions for complex customer challenges, and participating in the design and validation of new protocols and methods in relevant applications.

This position reports to the EMEA Cell Culture Modality Leader and is part of the Field Application Specialist Team in the Cell Culture modality. This is a remote position located in the UK, responsible for the EMEA region. While the role is remote, we appreciate candidates who are close to and willing to spend time at our site in Amersham.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver media expertise and provide application support for our cell culture media products to both customers and internal teams, ensuring effective collaboration with the sales organization and other stakeholders.
  • Present Cytiva's innovations and studies (e.g., Media Equivalency, Raw Material Characterization) to customers to secure new and expand existing business.
  • Support the Spec Win program by driving early‑phase adoption and ensuring continuity into late‑stage and commercial manufacturing.
  • Work closely with the Cell Culture team to lead strategic campaigns that drive market share and account expansion.
  • Partner with internal stakeholders (e.g., MSAT, contract review, manufacturing sites) to deliver complete customer solutions and support contract manufacturing opportunities.
  • Provide competitive insights and customer feedback to inform product and commercial teams.
Qualifications
  • Graduate or BSc degree in life science or closely related field.
  • First experience of technical sales and/or working within the Bioprocess, Biotech/Life Sciences, and/or Biopharmaceutical industries, ideally in cell line development, cell culture process development and/or manufacturing within an affiliated industry.
  • Hands‑on experience in process optimization using media and feed strategies to maximize expression levels and titers for monoclonal antibodies (mAbs), viral vectors, and/or recombinant proteins.
  • A proven record of leading key projects.
  • Fluency in English. Good communication, interpersonal and negotiating skills, ability to effectively communicate—verbally and in writing—with customers, external global counterparts and team members in other functional organizations, and a high ability to work in a team.
  • Solid problem‑solving skills and the ability to manage and resolve conflict, communicate issues and propose solutions to both internal and customers.
Travel, Motor Vehicle Record & Physical/Environment Requirements
  • Willingness to travel within EMEA and globally to participate in trainings, meetings, key projects and customer visits.
  • Valid driver’s licence.
  • Valid work permit.
