Job description

Electronics Technician Salary is £30,000 to £35,000 per annum plus bonus. Benefits include 33 days holiday, on site parking, subsidised canteen, gym, pension, employee welfare scheme.

Location

Based near Newport or Cardiff, South Wales.

Hours & Work Conditions

Days role – Monday to Friday, 39 hours per week. Permanent position in a state of the art facility with clean room environment.

Role Overview

The Electronic Technician / Electronic Assembler will build, assemble and test complex PCB equipment as part of a team developing a new product range.

Duties
  • Operate tooling and hand held electronic equipment to test cable assemblies or other electronic parts.
  • Manually solder components onto printed circuit boards using a microscope.
  • Perform visual inspection of products and incoming/outgoing parts.
  • Carry out functional tests on products.
  • Problem solve to find root cause analysis and make corrective action plans.
  • Work with engineering teams to resolve issues.
  • Handle or attach small components using tweezers and in house build fixtures.
Qualifications & Skills
  • HNC / HND qualified in Electrical, Electronic Engineering (or similar subjects) or other relevant qualification.
  • Experience in electronic assembly, PCB assembly and soldering.
  • Excellent analytical and fault‑finding skills.
  • Ability to utilise electrical and mechanical schematics to rectify faults and defects.
  • Operate fixturing / tooling or hand held electronic equipment.
  • Strong communication skills, able to communicate with internal and external colleagues.
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing and / or shop floor environment.
  • Knowledge of handling wafers or substrates.
  • Good knowledge of MS Office.
  • Knowledge of clean room protocols would be ideal, but not essential.
