Job summary

Southampton City Council is seeking an experienced manager for our Electrical Services team. The role oversees a trade team delivering repairs and maintenance to over 16,000 council properties across the city, with a focus on compliance and project delivery.

You will require strong people management, stakeholder engagement, and the ability to work onsite daily in Southampton. A NICEIC supervisor route is preferred, with extensive safety and regulatory knowledge.

Qualifications

• CDM, HHSRS, Awaab’s Law and health and safety regulations knowledge required.
• Management qualification in construction, housing or property maintenance or equivalent experience.
• Full UK driving licence required.
• Willingness to undergo DBS check.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of around 12 electricians.
• Oversee NICEIC electrical certification sign‑off (Qualifying Supervisor eligibility).
• Manage multiple projects and cyclical maintenance programs.
• Deliver compliance for electrical works and budgets.
• Tender, quote and forecast expenditure for works.
• Monitor contractor and staff performance (KPIs).
• Coordinate with client functions to deliver planned and reactive work.
