Job summary

Thames Water in Bicester is seeking a Mechanical & Electrical Technician to inspect, maintain, fault diagnose, test, install, modify or repair mechanical and electrical plant at the Bicester STW site (OX25 2NY). You’ll work with pumps, motors, control gear and PLC-based systems, ensuring safe, efficient operation with minimal supervision.

The role involves planned maintenance, fault diagnosis, and providing technical support.

Qualifications

• Electrical apprenticeship required and time-served with multi-skilled capability.
• Awareness of health and safety regulations and practices.
• Ability to fault diagnose, inspect, test and repair electrical/mechanical plant.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned maintenance on mechanical and electrical equipment.
• Investigate plant faults and perform repairs to minimise process interruptions.
• Provide technical advice and training support as needed.
• Work on pumps, 3-phase motors, control gear, VSDs, valves, dosing equipment.
• Participate in standby rota after training.
