Job summary

Vertical Recruitment Limited is recruiting an Electrical Design Engineer to join its Birmingham team within an employee‑owned building services and sustainability consultancy. The role combines hybrid and flexible working with exposure to commercial, industrial, healthcare, leisure, retail and residential projects.

You will take responsibility for electrical building services design from early design through to completion, producing calculations, drawings and technical reports, and coordinating

• A relevant electrical or building services engineering qualification, or equivalent experience.
• Previous electrical building services design experience.
• A sound understanding of electrical systems and design principles.
• Experience using electrical calculation software.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• The ability to manage your workload and work effectively within a team.
• A genuine interest in developing technically and progressing your career.

Responsibilities

• Design electrical building services across a varied project portfolio.
• Produce calculations, drawings, specifications and technical reports.
• Use recognised electrical calculation and design software.
• Liaise directly with clients, architects and external project teams.
• Coordinate electrical designs with other building services disciplines.
• Support project management and general project delivery.
• Review supplier information and monitor contractors where required.
• Promote practical, energy-efficient and sustainable design solutions.
• Work in accordance with relevant British Standards and industry guidance.

Electrical Design Engineer

Location: Birmingham City Centre / Jewellery Quarter

Salary: £35,000-£42,000

Contract: Permanent, full-time

Working pattern: Hybrid and flexible working

An employee-owned building services and sustainability consultancy is looking for an Electrical Design Engineer to join its growing Birmingham team.

The consultancy works across commercial, industrial, healthcare, leisure, retail, residential, extra-care and mixed-use developments, providing mechanical, electrical, energy and sustainability services.

This is an opportunity to take responsibility for electrical building services design, work directly with clients and contribute to projects from the early design stages through to completion.

The Role

Working within a multidisciplinary team, you will:

• Design electrical building services across a varied project portfolio
• Produce calculations, drawings, specifications and technical reports
• Use recognised electrical calculation and design software
• Liaise directly with clients, architects and external project teams
• Coordinate electrical designs with other building services disciplines
• Support project management and general project delivery
• Review supplier information and monitor contractors where required
• Promote practical, energy-efficient and sustainable design solutions
• Work in accordance with relevant British Standards and industry guidance

About you

You will need:
