Job summary

Bimplus is seeking an Electrical Engineer / Senior Electrical Engineer in the South East of England. You will design electrical building services for commercial and industrial projects, lead design elements, and collaborate with clients and contractors in a hybrid working setup.

The role covers from concept to completion, with opportunities to mentor juniors and contribute to renewable energy integration. A degree or HND in Electrical Engineering or Building Services is required, with 5+ years

Qualifications

• A degree, HND or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering or Building Services.
• Excellent communication and client-facing skills are essential.
• Strong organisational skills and a proactive approach are expected.
• Experience delivering commercial/industrial projects within building services is required.
• Familiarity with UK Building Regulations, BS, and CIBSE guidance is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Design electrical building services from concept through to detailed design.
• Produce calculations for LV distribution, lighting, power, fire alarms, security, and cabling.
• Prepare technical specifications, equipment schedules and tender documentation.
• Carry out site inspections and attend project meetings.
• Review contractor submissions and monitor installations during construction.
• Work with clients, consultants and contractors throughout project delivery.
• Undertake feasibility studies, condition surveys and technical reports.
• Support integration of renewable technologies and energy-efficient solutions.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to technical excellence.

Electrical Engineer / Senior Electrical Engineer

Location: South East England (Hybrid/Flexible Working Available)

Are you an Electrical Engineer looking to work on a diverse range of building services projects while developing your technical expertise in a supportive consultancy environment?

We're recruiting on behalf of a well-established and highly respected building services engineering consultancy that is continuing to grow. This is an excellent opportunity to join a close-knit team where you'll play a key role in delivering projects from initial concept through to completion.

The Role

As an Electrical Engineer or Senior Electrical Engineer, you'll take responsibility for the design and delivery of electrical building services projects across a variety of commercial and industrial developments. Working closely with clients, contractors and fellow design professionals, you'll have the opportunity to lead projects while continuing to develop your technical and professional skills.

Projects range in value from approximately £50,000 to £20 million, offering plenty of variety and exposure to different types of work.

Key Responsibilities

• Design electrical building services from concept through to detailed design.
• Produce calculations for LV distribution, lighting, power, fire alarms, security, structured cabling and associated electrical systems.
• Prepare technical specifications, equipment schedules and tender documentation.
• Carry out site inspections and attend project meetings.
• Review contractor submissions and monitor installations during construction.
• Work closely with clients, consultants and contractors throughout project delivery.
• Undertake feasibility studies, condition surveys and technical reports.
• Support the integration of renewable technologies and energy-efficient solutions.
• Mentor junior engineers where appropriate and contribute to technical excellence across the team.

About You

We're looking for someone with:

• A degree, HND or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering or Building Services.
• At least 5 years' experience within Building Services Consultancy.
• Experience delivering commercial and industrial projects.
• Strong knowledge of UK Building Regulations, British Standards and CIBSE guidance.
• Experience using electrical design software such as Amtech, ElectricalOM, Dialux or Relux.
• Excellent communication and client-facing skills. A proactive approach with strong organisational skills.
• AutoCAD LT experience. Revit/BIM knowledge.
• Working towards or already holding CEng, MCIBSE, MIET or equivalent professional accreditation.
• Knowledge of BREEAM and Net Zero Carbon design principles.
