Job summary

WSP in the UK & Ireland is seeking a seasoned Building Services Engineer based in Birmingham to lead the production of detailed and performance specifications and supervise design delivery across diverse projects.

You will review programmes, ensure resource alignment, and work with minimal supervision on technical aspects. The role emphasizes mentoring, feasibility studies, and coordination with clients, contractors, and design teams.

Qualifications

• Proven track record of delivering UK Building Services projects.
• Ability to engage with clients, contractors and design team members in technical discussions, co-ordination and debates.
• Ability to sketch and communicate technical detail graphically and effectively to both construction professionals and client teams.
• Detailed understanding of the regulations applicable to the discipline and how to demonstrate this through calculation.
• Experience of latest electrical design software packages such as AMTECH or Electrical OM to allocate/direction of work on projects.
• Experience of working with Revit MEP or other 3D design software to allocate/direction of work on projects.
• Must be able to obtain UK vetting level of Security Check (SC).

Responsibilities

• Take responsibility for and direct others in the production of detailed and performance specification for the discipline subject to review by colleagues prior to issue.
• Reviewing design programmes and ensuring that sufficient resource is available to complete the works in line with technical and commercial performance and delivery.
• Able to work using initiative with minimal supervision on all technical aspects of their discipline or have specific specialist experience applicable to the role.
• Supervise the completion of detailed designs and supervise the work of others in this function.
• Consider the feasibility of the project, specific to the discipline, and lead the overall feasibility study for the project.
• Training and mentoring of staff.
