Job description

Electrical Associate Director

Liverpool

Salary: £70,000 to £75,000 + Travel Allowance, Bonus, Private Healthcare

Job Ref: 38773

If you are looking to step into a leadership role within an exciting, fast‑growing, and rewarding Building Services Consultancy, this Electrical Associate Director position will absolutely be of interest.

This is an opportunity to join a business that has experienced exceptional growth since its launch in 2022. Initially known for delivering innovative, high-value solutions to the Residential sector, the company has rapidly expanded its reputation and now delivers projects across multiple sectors, typically ranging from £5M to £20M MEP value (£100M+ total build). Their project footprint includes Liverpool, Manchester, Leeds, Birmingham, London, and other major UK cities.

The Role

As Electrical Associate Director, you will play a key role in technical leadership, project delivery, and the ongoing development of the electrical engineering function. This is still very much a hands‑on technical role, being hands on design will still be part of your role but you will very much be client facing and leading projects that work. This position will suit an experienced senior engineer or existing associate who is ready to step up into a role with more strategic, commercial, and managerial influence.

You will be involved in detailed design work as the business primarily delivers RIBA Stages 3‑5, while also leading project teams to deliver solutions on site as designs move into construction phases. The consultancy designs all projects digitally using Revit, so experience with BIM workflows is highly advantageous.

You will be responsible for:
  • Leading and managing electrical design across a broad portfolio of projects
  • Providing technical oversight and quality assurance across RIBA Stages 3‑5
  • Lead projects that actually work, have high quality output and work with the client to get the right solution.
  • Guiding and developing the electrical engineering team
  • Working closely with Directors, clients, and project stakeholders
  • Taking projects confidently through pre‑construction and into build stages
  • Supporting business development, bid work, and client relationship management
  • Contractor-side experience is beneficial but not essential – what matters is your ability to lead projects through design and delivery with confidence and clarity.
What You Receive in Return

The company is built on a culture‑first philosophy, placing real emphasis on staff wellbeing, progression, and shared success. Alongside a strong remuneration package, you can enjoy:

  • Annual wellness/team‑building trip – this year’s trip is a fully paid sailing experience around the Greek islands
  • Monthly team events – previous activities include mountain walks, quad biking, clay pigeon shooting, and more
  • Attendance at CIBSE events and luncheons as a full‑team activity
  • Clear pathway to partnership, including the opportunity to gain shareholding in the business
  • Hybrid working – typically 2+ days in the office, 3 at home
  • Regular professional development reviews using a well‑rounded competency framework
