Stockport NHS Foundation Trust is recruiting a Waiting List Officer (Band 4) for the Elective Booking & Scheduling Team at Stepping Hill Hospital. The role involves managing waiting lists for elective surgery, ensuring targets are met, and coordinating admissions and pre-operative assessments.

The post requires GCSE-level education (or equivalent) with strong interpersonal skills, initiative, and the ability to adapt to changing priorities. Both full-time and part-time positions are available.

Qualifications

• Educated to GCSE standard or equivalent.
• Experience in a patient/customer focused environment.
• Awareness/understanding of Government Access targets desirable.
• Must be well organized with the ability to use own initiative and make independent decisions.

Responsibilities

• Lead role in managing waiting list for a group of consultants; cross-covering and supporting other specialties as required.
• Monitor waiting lists and daily work lists to meet Government Access Targets.
• Coordinate admission and pre-operative assessments.
• Act as named contact point liaising with patients, relatives, and medical staff.
• Address enquiries courteously while maintaining patient confidentiality.
• Ensure compliance with Trust policies (Health & Safety, Infection Control, Data Protection).
• Provide advice to patients regarding admission and waiting list status.
• Assist in training new staff in the department.
