Job summary

WSP is seeking an experienced Associate / Associate Director / Technical Director to join the Environmental Consents team in the UK. The role focuses on delivering environmental design, assessment and management across energy projects for a wide client base, with leadership in recruitment, bids, project delivery and financial oversight.

Qualifications

• Relevant environmental / planning degree or equivalent experience
• Demonstrable experience in environmental impact assessment (EIA) delivery for major water schemes
• Familiarity with Habitats Regulations Assessments, SSSI Assents
• Thorough knowledge of environmental issues across multiple sectors
• Proven line management experience
• Proven track record of developing and upskilling internal teams
• Evidence of successfully driving business growth
• Excellent communication skills both verbal and written

Responsibilities

• Play a key role in the expansion and diversification of our offer in the water sector, working with sector leads to win new business
• Providing environmental advice and support to clients, project managers and colleagues
• Collaborating with environmental specialists, clients and engineering teams to promote sustainable design and environmental enhancement
• Leading large, complex projects, overseeing technical, quality, commercial and HSE performance
• Building relationships with clients and identifying opportunities for resourcing, programming and strategy development
• Proactively developing new client relationships and marketing services, including presenting at conferences for WSP
• Undertaking bids and proposals for complex opportunities and pursuing framework opportunities
• Leading development of innovative techniques to shape our business, including Digital EIA and Future Ready EIA
• Driving performance improvement and career advancement across teams
• Promoting an inclusive workplace and the health, safety and wellbeing culture
