Job summary

WSP UK is seeking an experienced Associate/Associate Director/Technical Director to join the Environmental Consents nationwide team. You will lead environmental inputs to multi-disciplinary energy projects, directing and mentoring environmental specialists and design teams across the project lifecycle.

The role focuses on expanding the water sector, providing expert environmental advice, driving sustainable design, and cultivating strong client relationships while delivering high-quality

Qualifications

• Relevant environmental / planning degree or equivalent experience
• Demonstrable experience in EIA delivery for major water schemes
• Familiarity with other consenting processes such as Habitats Regulations Assessments, SSSI Assents
• Thorough knowledge of a diverse range of environmental issues
• Proven line management experience
• Proven track record of developing and upskilling internal teams
• Evidence of successfully driving business growth
• Excellent communication skills both verbal and written

Responsibilities

• Lead environmental inputs to project designs and assessments across multiple sectors
• Direct and lead environmental teams and inputs to project delivery and design
• Recruitment, bidding, project team management and financial oversight
• Expand services in the water sector by coordinating with sector leads and client managers
• Develop proposals for complex opportunities and undertake business development activities
• Promote innovative techniques in environmental assessment and design
• Ensure health and safety, quality, and performance standards across projects
• Foster inclusive culture and collaboration within cross-functional teams
