Job summary

onlyFE College in Leeds is seeking an experienced SENDCo to join our Inclusive Learning Services team. The role focuses on leading EHCP provision, coordinating annual reviews, and ensuring statutory timelines are met to support students with education, health and care plans.

You will work with curriculum teams, local authorities, parents and external agencies to champion inclusive practice and ensure learners have access to outstanding educational opportunities within a Further Education

Qualifications

• Experience working with learners with SEND and EHCPs in education.
• Knowledge of SEND Code of Practice and EHCP processes.
• Ability to coordinate multi-agency support.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate provision for students with EHCPs across the college.
• Manage annual reviews and ensure statutory requirements are met within required timescales.
• Work with curriculum managers, teachers, learning support staff and external professionals to implement support strategies.
• Monitor student progress, attendance and outcomes with appropriate interventions.
• Liaise with local authorities regarding EHCP consultations, funding applications and reviews.
• Provide guidance and training to staff on SEND legislation and inclusive teaching practices.
• Support the transition of learners into, through, and beyond college.
• Ensure compliance with the SEND Code of Practice and safeguarding requirements.

The Role

We are seeking an enthusiastic, experienced, and highly organisedSpecial Educational Needs and DisabilitiesCoordinator (SENDCo)to join our dedicated Inclusive Learning Services team. Working collaboratively with curriculum teams, support staff, local authorities, parents/carers, and external agencies, you will champion inclusive practice and ensure that all learners have access to outstanding educational opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate provision for students with EHCPs across the college.
• Manage annual reviews and ensure statutory requirements are met within required timescales.
• Work closely with curriculum managers, teachers, learning support assistants, and external professionals to develop and implement effective support strategies.
• Monitor student progress, attendance, and outcomes, ensuring appropriate interventions are in place.
• Liaise with local authorities regarding EHCP consultations, funding applications, and reviews.
• Provide guidance and training to staff on SEND legislation, inclusive teaching practices, and reasonable adjustments.
• Support the transition of learners into, through, and beyond college.
• Ensure compliance with the SEND Code of Practice and relevant safeguarding requirements.

The successful candidate will have:

• Experience working with learners with SEND, particularly those with EHCPs, within an education setting.
• Strong knowledge of SEND legislation, the SEND Code of Practice, and EHCP processes.
• Excellent communication and partnership-working skills.
• The ability to manage complex caseloads and meet statutory deadlines.
• Experience coordinating multi-agency support for young people.
• A commitment to promoting inclusion, equality, and positive learner outcomes.

You must hold:

• 5 GCSEs (Grade A-C) including English Language and Maths*, or equivalent
• Level 3 qualification in a relevant field

Having a SENCo qualification or relevant SEND professional qualification would be an advantage as would having worked in a Further Education or post-16 setting and a knowledge of high-needs funding processes.

You will be an organised professional and have an eye for detail required in the timely completion of our statutory requirements in relations to Educational, Health and Care Plans. You will be able to develop trusting relationships with students and their parents and carers as well as other professionals so that the College can support its students in the most effective way possible.
