Bouygues Energies & Services has an exciting opportunity for a Senior HR Manager/Head of HR to be based in our Bristol office in Bradley Stoke and the Hinkley Point C site in Bridgwater.

Bouygues Energies & Services has been awarded a Turn-key EPC contract for the Hinkley Point C (HPC) new build nuclear power plant Emergency Diesel Generators. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone interested in working on this unique and technically challenging project.

The Senior HR Manager/Head of HR will be a key member of the management team. The role will combine operational excellence with strategic impact, ensuring compliance with HR legislation and case law, and implementing policies and initiatives that drive staff engagement and development across the division.

Working in a unionised environment, experience with NACEI legislation and Blue Collar working legislation is essential. Knowledge of TUPE (Transfer of Undertakings Protection of Employment) is highly desirable. The Senior HR Manager/Head of HR will play a pivotal role in managing employee transitions resulting from mergers and acquisitions. The successful candidate will ensure legal compliance while working closely with stakeholders to maintain engagement, minimise disruption, and facilitate successful transitions.

The role involves managing both site-based and office-based employees, with knowledge of working with migrant workers on sponsorship to the UK being essential. The candidate will work autonomously, reporting to the Project Director, with dotted lines to UK & France HR support.

This position has potential scope to grow a small HR team as the project expands.

The Role
  1. Understand NAECI site agreements and manage the workforce accordingly
  2. Manage both White and Blue collar workforces
  3. Provide expert advice and leadership regarding TUPE implications
  4. Lead and manage TUPE processes, ensuring compliance
  5. Develop communication strategies to keep employees informed and engaged
  6. Support consultation processes with employee representatives and trade unions
  7. Assist line managers with performance management and development plans
  8. Provide HR support on matters such as diversity, recruitment, employee benefits, relations, absence, disciplinary, and grievances
  9. Ensure policy compliance across the business
  10. Develop and implement HR policies and procedures
  11. Build stakeholder rapport and support HR initiatives
  12. Produce reports and analyze people data to inform decisions
  13. Ensure accurate payroll data submission
  14. Contribute to continuous improvement and innovation in HR practices

The Person:

Essential Criteria

  • Proven HR management experience with migrant workers and sponsorship duties
  • Deep knowledge of TUPE legislation and application
  • Understanding of NAECI site agreements
  • Familiarity with Blue collar workforce legislation
  • Strong problem-solving skills and project management abilities
  • Experience in operational and strategic HR roles
  • Knowledge of employment policies and procedures
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills
  • Ability to build relationships and influence stakeholders
  • Diplomatic, patient, and approachable demeanor
  • Autonomous working style with good organizational skills
  • Experience in policy development and project management
  • Understanding of employment law and change management
  • Ability to work near HPC site or Bristol office with regular travel
  • Proficiency in computer skills
  • Valid UK driving license

Desirable Criteria

  • MCIPD or postgraduate HR qualification
  • Experience in Engineering, Construction, or Nuclear environments
