Overview
Education Operations Manager at Linn Moor Campus, Peterculter. This is a full-time, permanent role within our Education setting. The post holder will lead the planning, coordination, and delivery of operational processes across the education department during term time and support residential services during school holidays. They will work as part of the school’s senior leadership team to develop the education team, drive operational efficiency, manage resources, and lead a high-performing workforce to support the holistic needs of learners and residents.
We support vulnerable young people in care and education, with 1:1 support, teamwork, and engagement with the wider community. The role includes Duty Management coverage on the Campus as part of rotating shifts.
Location: Linn Moor Campus, Aberdeen area. This is a full-time position with a competitive salary and benefits.
Hours: 39 hours per week; 7 day rolling rota. Salary: per annum. Benefits: extensive benefits package as listed below.
Main Duties / Responsibilities
- Strategic & Operational Leadership: Align operational planning with strategy across education (term time) and care (school holidays); lead, support, and develop staff; contribute to whole-school improvement and service development.
- Workforce & People Management: Provide direct line management to Education Senior Practitioners and Residential Care and Education Support Workers; implement performance management, supervision, appraisal, and professional development; promote an open, supportive culture; manage policy communication, recruitment, induction, HR processes, and leave.
- Policy, Compliance & Safeguarding: Ensure compliance with policies and safeguarding; develop and monitor operational policies on quality assurance, health & safety, and risk management; conduct audits and trainings; safeguard welfare of children and young adults; support EMT and Board with reporting.
- Health & Safety and Risk Management: Coordinate with Health & Safety partner; oversee fire safety, infection control, manual handling, accessibility, and safe use of specialist environments; ensure incident management is followed.
- Facilities & Environment: Ensure environments are safe and inclusive for pupils with complex needs; oversee sensory rooms, therapeutic spaces, and outdoor learning facilities.
- Residential & Holiday Operations: Support residential service managers during school holidays; ensure safe, welcoming accommodation; work with care staff to maintain compliance and high-quality residential experiences; support and deliver Summer Camp.
- External Partnerships & Services: Manage external contracts and relationships; collaborate with families, partner agencies, and local authorities; represent the organisation at meetings and in the community.
- Finance & Administration: Oversee budgets; support admissions, record-keeping, communications, and transport; assist with income generation and grant applications with fundraising teams.
- ICT & Digital Infrastructure: Coordinate ICT services to support digital and business systems.
Qualifications / Training / Education
- Essential: SVQ Social Services and Healthcare at SCQF level 9 or equivalent as agreed by SSSC (or willing to obtain); evidence of continuing professional development; SSSC Registration - Managers of Residential Child Care Services (or willingness to attain).
Experience
- Essential: Post-qualifying experience of working with Children and Families; background in residential special school or ASN settings; familiarity with therapeutic or sensory environments; knowledge of regulatory requirements (Child Protection); experience working with vulnerable young people and managing challenging behaviour using a strength-based approach; experience in assessment practices and risk management; knowledge of Health and Social Care Standards, The Promise, and GIRFEC.
Key Skills / Aptitudes
- Essential: Ability to facilitate and lead change; team player; substantial operations or facilities management experience (ideally in education, care, or third-sector); strong knowledge of Scottish regulatory frameworks; proven leadership and management of diverse teams; policy development, compliance monitoring, and risk management; strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills; experience working with external providers and multi-disciplinary teams; understanding professional boundaries.
