Job summary

Protocol Education is seeking an IT Technician for a Newham secondary school to provide reliable IT support for staff and students, ensuring technology enables effective teaching and learning.

You will troubleshoot across hardware, software and networks, manage Windows and Microsoft 365, support classroom technology and maintain accurate IT asset records, collaborating with leadership and external providers.

Qualifications

• Previous IT Technician/IT Support/Helpdesk experience.
• Good knowledge of Windows operating systems, Microsoft 365 and basic networking.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• A proactive, organised and solution-focused approach.
• The ability to prioritise workload in a busy school environment.
• Previous school-based experience is desirable but not essential.
• An enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.

Responsibilities

• Providing first-line and second-line IT support across the school.
• Troubleshooting hardware, software and network issues efficiently.
• Installing, configuring and maintaining laptops, desktops, printers and other devices.
• Supporting classroom technology, including interactive displays and audiovisual equipment.
• Managing user accounts, passwords and Microsoft 365 services.
• Assisting with network maintenance, system upgrades and software deployments.
• Ensuring all IT equipment is secure, functional and ready for daily use.
• Supporting staff and students with technical queries and training where required.
• Maintaining accurate IT asset records and documentation.
• Working alongside leadership and external providers to deliver effective IT services.
