Job description

This is a fantastic time to join an ambitious, innovative and award-winning Planning Service.

We are looking for a motivated, experienced and dynamic Ecology Team Leader to help us establish our growing ecology team.

You will act as the Councils lead specialist on ecology and biodiversity, provide expert advice for a wide range of planning applications and strategic regeneration projects, as well as help progress planning policy documents.

You will have the opportunity to develop and build strong partnerships with a wide range of organisations at national, regional, and local levels to ensure biodiversity is embedded appropriately in new development in the district.

Qualifications
  • A relevant degree (and chartered membership of CIEEM or equivalent)
  • Strong knowledge of ecological legislation, biodiversity net gain, and planning processes
  • Significant experience working in ecology, including advising on planning applications
  • Excellent communication, organisational, and conflict-resolution skills
  • The ability to support and develop staff, manage budgets, and represent the Council at formal examinations or inquiries
