Finance Assistant

Plymouth, Devon

Competitive Salary

Our client, a leading company based in the Southwest and experiencing a period of significant growth, is currently seeking a skilled Finance Assistant to join their expanding finance team on a full-time, permanent basis.

As the Finance Assistant, you will support daily finance operations, record transactions, and assist with budgeting, forecasting, and analysis as needed.

The responsibilities:

  • Manage assigned cost and balance sheet accounts with accurate reporting.
  • Prepare and post accruals, prepayments, and journals.
  • Analyse costs vs. budget, reporting key variances.
  • Handle end-to-end accounts payable for invoices using internal systems.
  • Coordinate monthly and quarterly payments.
  • Maintain fixed asset records and depreciation calculations.
  • Support budgeting and reforecasting with financial analysis.
  • Ensure timely completion of month- and year-end close.

The candidate:

  • Experience working within a fast paced, high volume finance environment.
  • Clear written and verbal communicator.
  • Strong financial analysis and problem-solving skills.
  • Detail-oriented and well-organised.
  • Proficient in Excel (formulas, data tools, spreadsheet management).
