Senior Commercial Manager (Life Insurance) - Edinburgh

Location: Edinburgh (Ideally a few times a week in the office, but open to candidates further afield)

Salary: £70k - £90k

We are seeking a passionate, forward-thinking Senior Commercial Manager who thrives on ownership and innovation. You will be the go-to expert for all things Life Insurance, including product development, P&L ownership, trading, reporting, and performance analysis. You will lead the commercial delivery of the product, build and manage relationships with our underwriter partner, and drive long-term success for a new proposition.

You will be the expert voice within a small but dynamic cross-functional team comprising Propositions, Marketing, Finance, and Risk, many of whom lack a Life Insurance background.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Motivate, teach, and collaborate with team members, guiding the development of the product from inception to launch.
2. Manage P&L, set budgets, and analyze trading performance.
3. Work closely with external partners, especially underwriters, managing contracts and governance.
4. Inspire non-specialists, foster collaboration, and lead with warmth and confidence.
5. Apply strategic thinking to translate insights into actionable plans that deliver value to customers.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Genuine passion for insurance and a strong understanding of the protection space.
• Experience in Life Insurance is preferred, but candidates with backgrounds in Critical Illness, Income Protection, or Home Insurance are encouraged to apply.
• Strong commercial acumen with experience managing P&L, budgets, and trading performance.
• Experience working with external partners, particularly underwriters, and managing contractual relationships.
• Natural leadership skills to inspire and build bridges across teams.
• Strategic mindset with the ability to turn insights into actions that create real customer value.
