Job summary

Tradewind Recruitment LTD. is assisting a welcoming secondary school in Smethwick to appoint a reliable Cover Supervisor to supervise classes during short-term absences and support students in their learning.

You will manage behaviour, ensure work is completed and maintain a positive classroom environment in Key Stage 3 and 4, reporting concerns as required. Prior experience in education is preferred and safeguarding awareness is essential.

• Experience working with young people in an educational setting.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong classroom management and organisational abilities.
• A confident, calm and professional approach.
• The ability to adapt to different subjects, classes and age groups.
• Reliability, punctuality and a positive attitude.
• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
• Previous experience in Cover Supervisor roles or related educational positions is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Supervise students across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 during short-term absences.
• Ensure pre-prepared work is completed and students stay focused on their learning.
• Maintain a positive, safe and well-managed classroom environment.
• Follow the school's behaviour management policies and procedures.
• Support students with their learning where appropriate.
• Report concerns, incidents or issues to the appropriate staff member.
• Ensure the safety and wellbeing of all students at all times.
