Job summary

Tate Modern / Tate Britain in London seeks an experienced Duty Security Manager to lead daily security operations across the Tate estate, ensuring a safe, secure and welcoming environment for visitors, colleagues and VIPs.

This hands-on leadership role manages frontline security teams, coordinates major events, and maintains exceptional service standards at one of London’s iconic cultural destinations.

Qualifications

• Experience leading security teams in high-traffic, visitor-facing environments.
• Proven ability to respond to incidents and coordinate security operations.
• Strong communication with internal stakeholders and external partners.

Responsibilities

• Lead Security Officers, Leading Officers, Reception and Logistics teams.
• Act as operational lead for daily security activity and incident management.
• Ensure staffing levels, deployments and front-of-house coverage are maintained.
• Support VIP visits, exhibitions, media activity and special events.
• Build relationships with Tate stakeholders and operational teams.
• Investigate incidents and produce operational reports.
• Monitor security systems and escalate faults as required.
• Drive high standards of customer service, safety and security.
• Coach and develop frontline teams.
• Ensure compliance with security, health & safety and contractual requirements.

We're looking for an experienced Duty Security Manager to lead daily security operations across the Tate estate, ensuring a safe, secure and welcoming environment for visitors, colleagues, high-profile guests and special events.

This is a hands‑on leadership role where you'll be responsible for managing frontline security teams, responding to incidents, coordinating major events, and maintaining exceptional service standards at one of London's most iconic visitor destinations.

What You'll Be Doing

• Leading and managing Security Officers, Leading Officers, Reception and Logistics teams
• Acting as the operational lead for daily security activity and incident management
• Ensuring staffing levels, deployments and front‑of‑house coverage are maintained
• Supporting the delivery of VIP visits, exhibitions, media activity and special events
• Building strong relationships with Tate stakeholders and operational teams
• Investigating incidents and producing operational reports
• Monitoring security systems and escalating faults where required
• Driving high standards of customer service, safety and security
• Coaching, developing and motivating frontline teams

Previous experience managing security operations within a complex, customer‑facing environment

Essential Qualifications
