Run the fun
Bowling, arcades, attractions, food and drink, all under one roof and packed with families. We're looking for a Duty Manager who is happy on a busy floor and confident enough to take charge of the whole venue during their shifts.
You'll be the senior person on site, so the venue's safety, its money, its customers and its team all come to you. One minute you're welcoming a birthday party, the next you're sorting out a broken attraction, and by the end of the night you're doing the banking. If you like variety, responsibility and making sure people have a good day out, read on.
What you'll do
- Lead the shift: open and close the venue securely, run the shift checklist, deploy the team across reception, attractions, bars, food and retail, and check uniforms and timekeeping.
- Deliver great service: take bookings and enquiries, handle complaints, and promote our offers, events and memberships.
- Keep everyone safe: make sure the venue meets licensing, food hygiene, gambling and health and safety rules. That includes Challenge 25, keeping under-18s and excluded customers out of the adult gaming area, and carrying out AGC checks at least every 45 minutes.
- Look after the money: manage floats and transactions, collect revenue from machines and attractions, and complete end-of-day banking and paperwork accurately.
- Own the stock: take responsibility for your own stock line, carry out stock takes, check deliveries, and keep bars, vending machines, retail areas and prize counters topped up.
- Develop the team: train staff, including on attractions, run appraisals, sit on interview panels, write rotas, and carry out disciplinary investigations when needed.
- Handle the unexpected: report faults to the technical team, deal with incidents and accidents, and look after visitors such as contractors and enforcement officers.
- Help the business grow: attend weekly management meetings, share ideas for winning more local customers, and pass key information on to your team.
What we're looking for
- Experience as a supervisor or manager in leisure, hospitality, retail or a similar customer-facing setting
- Confidence handling cash and accurate paperwork
- A calm, decisive approach when things get busy or go wrong
- The ability to motivate and coach a young, energetic team
- An understanding of, or willingness to learn, licensing, food safety and gambling compliance
- Flexibility to work across all departments and help at events, including occasional off-site activities
Nice to have: a Personal Licence (APLH), Level 2 Food Hygiene, First Aid at Work, or experience in an adult gaming centre.
