Job summary

DHL Supply Chain in the UK is seeking a Driver's Mate at Ebbw Vale to support our drivers in delivering goods safely and on time.

Typical day includes loading orders, assisting with unloading at licensed premises, keeping the transport team updated, and using an electronic handheld device to complete processes. This is a six-month fixed-term contract with Monday–Friday shifts 05:00–12:00.

Qualifications

• Must be physically fit to perform manual handling tasks.
• Experience with handling volume orders is preferred.
• Strong organisational skills and ability to manage workload.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate loading of alcohol/white goods onto the vehicle.
• Assist driver with unloading at licensed premises.
• Maintain communication with transport team regarding issues.
• Complete relevant processes on an electronic handheld device.

Pay Rate: £30,984.65
Grade: Collective Agreement
Contract Type: FTC 6 months
Shift patterns: Monday-Friday 05.00 - 12 :00 starts
Location: Ebbw Vale, NP23, 8FX

We're are looking for a Driver's Mate to play a key role assisting our drivers to deliver goods safely and on time.

A TYPICAL DAY MAY INVOLVE

• Coordinating the picking and loading of alcohol / white goods onto your assigned vehicle prior to delivery
• Accompanying and assisting driver with unloading deliveries at licensed premises
• Staying in touch with the transport team to advise of any problems
• Completing relevant processes on an electronic handheld device

THIS ROLE WOULD SUIT PEOPLE WHO

• Are physically fit as the role involves lots of manual handling
• Have previous experience of working with volume orders
• Have excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage their own workload
• Can perform simple maths calculations
• Previous experience as a Driver's Mate, within a similar environment would be ideal but isn't a deal breaker!
• Secure loads effectively and ensure loads are within the weight limits
• Report any excesses, shortages or damage to supervisor in a timely manner
• Happy to do deliveries to customers as part of a two man delivery team or single handed as required
