Job summary

DHL Supply Chain is seeking a Class 1 HGV Driver for a permanent, full-time role based in South Shields (NE34 9PH). Shifts are Monday–Friday with start times between 03:00–04:00, at a pay rate of £40,788. The job involves trunking, trailer swaps, and on-site vehicle checks.

The role requires an HGV Class 1 licence (C+E), Driver CPC, and a Digital Tachograph Card, with at least 12 months of driving experience. DHL offers strong pension benefits and various employee perks.

Responsibilities

• Drive safely and efficiently in line with Drivers' Hours regulations.

• Regularly perform vehicle checks and basic maintenance.
• Complete trunking runs from the brewery to multiple sites.
• Perform drop and swap trailer movements.

A TYPICAL DAY MAY INVOLVE

• Driving in a safe and efficient manner in line with Drivers' Hours and Working Time Directive regulations
• Complying with our health and safety standards at all times, ensuring adherence to The Highway Code, road safety rules and vehicle regulations
• Regular completion of vehicle checks
• Completing trunking runs from the brewery to various sites such as warehouse feeds for dray operations
• Performing drop and swap trailer movements

THIS ROLE WOULD SUIT PEOPLE WHO

• Hold a valid HGV Class 1 Driving Licence (C+E), Driver CPC Qualification and Digital Tachograph Card
• Have 12 months recent driving experience
• Are confident working independently, managing time well, and handling drop and swap trailer movements safely.
