Job summary

Metro Rod is seeking a Reactive Drainage Engineer for the Bedford, Luton & Watford area. This full-time permanent role offers a salary of £30,000–£42,000 plus on‑call duties, overtime and benefits.

You will join a growing team providing emergency drainage services across commercial and domestic sites, with a strong emphasis on safety and customer satisfaction. The role involves a range of drainage tasks, site visits, and ensuring high service standards while adhering to company procedures.

Qualifications

• Willingness to work occasional / unsociable hours.
• Demonstrated flexible, positive attitude.
• Full UK driving licence is required.

Responsibilities

• Carry out a range of drainage services including emergency response, cleaning, clearance, repair, installation and maintenance of customer assets.
• Deliver high standard of customer service and technical workmanship.
• Operate in line with H&S and quality procedures.
• Maintain records of completed work in internal systems.
• Communicate effectively to ensure excellent service.

What’s involved?

• Carry out a range of services associated with our emergency services offering, cleaning, clearance, repair, installation and maintenance of our customer’s assets new and old
• Deliver a high standard of customer service and technical expertise
• Operate in accordance with H&S and Quality procedures
• Maintain a high standard of company service, vehicles and equipment
• Accurately record completed work details via internal and client systems
• Communicate effectively to ensure an excellent service is provided at all times
• Have a positive and helpful can-do attitude
• Cover normal working hours and “on call” out-of-hours on a rota basis and have a flexible attitude to covering emergency situations when called upon outside of the these periods

What do we look for?

• Experience in commercial & domestic Drainage is essential
• Experience in drain cleaning, drain repairs, patch lining
• Drainage tickets including HPWJ, Confined spaces and CSCS
• Have experience with CCTV Surveys and Lining an advantage
• Will have a positive, flexible, can-do attitude
• Want to be part of an exciting, growing and progressive business with an increasingly formidable brand presence
• Be willing to work occasional / unsociable hours
• Hold a full UK driving licence - must be over 21 for insurance purposes
• Must live in the postcode areas noted above
