Metro Rod Newport & Hereford is hiring a full-time Reactive Drainage & Excavation Engineer based in Leighton Buzzard, England. The role offers a salary between £30,000 and £42,000, along with on-call and overtime pay.

The successful candidate will be responsible for cleaning, clearing, and maintaining drainage services, ensuring high standards of customer service and compliance with health and safety procedures. A proactive attitude and experience in drainage are essential.

The services are provided by over 60 franchisees with geographical coverage across the UK. Within the Waste & Water Services Division of Franchise Brands, there are also Willow Pumps and Filta, two expanding businesses that focus on sewage pumps and commercial kitchen solutions. Together, the brands provide a complete one‑stop shop for keeping water and waste flowing.

What’s involved?

• Carry out a range of services associated with our emergency services offering, cleaning, clearance, repair, installation and maintenance of our customer’s assets new and old.
• Deliver a high standard of customer service and technical expertise.
• Operate in accordance with H&S and Quality procedures.
• Maintain a high standard of company service, vehicles and equipment.
• Accurately record completed work details via internal and client systems.
• Communicate effectively to ensure an excellent service is provided at all times.
• Have a positive and helpful can‑do attitude.
• Cover normal working hours and “on call” out‑of‑hours on a rota basis and have a flexible attitude to covering emergency situations when called upon outside of these periods.

What do we look for?

• Experience in commercial & domestic drainage is essential.
• Experience in drain cleaning, drain repairs, patch lining.
• Drainage tickets including HPWJ, Confined spaces and CSCS.
• Experience with CCTV surveys and lining is an advantage.
• Will have a positive, flexible, can‑do attitude.

• Hold a full UK driving licence – must be over 21 for insurance purposes.
