Job summary

Laing O'Rourke is seeking a on-site Document Controller to support the Kiln Lane Substation project in Suffolk. You will manage project documentation, ensure accuracy and accessibility for internal teams and external partners, and support QA, archiving and training tasks.

Ideal candidates will have 1–2 years of document control experience in construction, familiarity with EDM systems such as Asite, ACC and Field View, and strong organisational skills to map and follow established processes.

Qualifications

  • Experience using EDM/c-document systems to manage project documents.
  • Understanding digital handover processes and records control.
  • Strong organisational, communication and attention to detail skills.
  • 1–2 years document control experience, ideally in construction.
  • Ability to map and follow project processes effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain document control systems and collaboration tools (Asite, ACC, Field View).
  • Check, publish, track, and distribute documents per project procedures.
  • Support approval cycles and perform QA checks.
  • Resolve document/drawing queries and help users with training.
  • Produce project reports and maintain training records.
  • Assist with digital H&S files, archiving, and reprographics.
  • Ensure mobile devices are synced and functioning.
  • Supervise other Document Controllers where required.

About the Great Grid Partnership

The Great Grid Partnership is a National Grid initiative that brings together key delivery partners to design and deliver major electricity transmission upgrades across England and Wales as part of the Great Grid Upgrade. This project helps modernise the grid to deliver more renewable, green energy across the UK.

Role Overview

This full‑time, on‑site role supports the Kiln Lane Substation project in Suffolk by managing project documentation and ensuring information is accurate, compliant, and accessible for internal teams and external partners.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain document control systems and collaboration tools (e.g., Asite, ACC, Field View).
  • Check, publish, track, and distribute documents in line with project procedures.
  • Support approval cycles and complete QA checks.
  • Resolve document/drawing queries and support users with system training.
  • Produce project reports and maintain training records.
  • Assist with digital H&S files, archiving procedures, and reprographics.
  • Ensure mobile devices are synced and functioning correctly.
  • Supervise other Document Controllers where required.
