The GB energy system is undergoing a rapid and unprecedented transformation as we work towards Clean Power by 2030 and Net Zero by 2050. The distribution network sits at the heart of this shift, enabling the connection of thousands of electric vehicles, heat pumps and significant volumes of new solar and wind generation. To meet this challenge, we’ll be expanding and reinforcing our network at a scale not seen this century.
As one of the UK’s Distribution Network Operators, we play a critical role in the Great Grid Upgrade—supporting the delivery of accelerated strategic Transmission Investment (ASTI) projects across England and Wales. These major infrastructure upgrades are essential to meeting the nation’s future energy need.
We have an exciting opportunity for a Document Controller in our newly formed ASTI Projects team within Field Operations. Reporting to the PMO Lead, you’ll provide document control for complex multi‑site projects to ensure the delivery of compliant and traceable project documentation. We offer flexibility on location, with the role based from any NGED depot within our licence areas: East Midlands, South West, West Midlands or Wales—agreed with the successful candidate. As part of our hybrid working approach, this role provides a blend of office, site and home working, with some occasional travel.
We’re National Grid Electricity Distribution (NGED), the owner and operator behind the electricity distribution systems for the Midlands, the Southwest of England and South Wales. Serving communities of more than 8 million people, our expert teams deliver heat, light and power for homes and businesses. National Grid employs over 29,000 people worldwide.
We are building an inclusive workplace, a place to actively celebrate the cultures, personalities and preferences of our colleagues – who in turn help to build the success of our business and reflect the diversity of the communities we serve. Our vision is to be at the heart of a clean, fair and affordable energy future and we are doing this in a fast‑moving industry with an increasing focus on tackling climate change, exploring new energy sources that are renewable, low carbon, and improving efficiency to meet demand.
