Digital Testing and Optimisation Specialist

Location: Asda House

You will lead, build and manage an A/B and multivariate testing programme to drive measurable improvements across the online experience. Document and share findings to build a central knowledge base that informs future optimisation activity. You'll build, launch, and analyse experiments using tools such as Monetate and others, delivering insights that translate into actionable strategies. As part of the UX & Optimisation Team within Customer Strategy and Activity, you'll collaborate closely with UX, eCommerce, Product, and Technology teams - using data-driven insights to guide ideation, influence decisions, and enhance the end-to-end online journey.

Priorities Of The Role
  • Implement & Manage Experiments: Build, deploy, and maintain A/B and multivariate tests across ecommerce platforms, ensuring robust and scalable execution. Work with experimentation platforms including Monetate to set up, monitor, and analyse tests. Ensure experiments run efficiently, with proper randomisation, targeting, and performance tracking.
  • Improve Conversion Rate Through Testing: Collaborate with the CRO Lead, UX and Content design, Research, and Product teams to identify testing opportunities that reduce friction and enhance the user journey.
  • Data-Driven Insights & Technical Optimisation: Collaborate with Data & Analytics, and UX Research to analyse user behaviour, to shape test hypotheses and identify blockers. Ensure test variations maintain site performance, SEO, and accessibility.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration & Knowledge Sharing: Work closely with eComm teams as well as UX Designers and Product Managers to integrate testing into Agile workflows. Share insights, methodologies, and best practices to foster a culture of experimentation across the business. Ensure that all tests are aligned with business goals and customer needs.
  • Maintain Ethical, Compliant & Scalable Testing Practices: Ensure all experiments adhere to ethical standards, including data privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA). Develop scalable testing processes that allow for rapid iteration without disrupting the user experience. Advocate for accessibility and inclusivity in all testing initiatives.

  • Experimentation & A/B Testing: Experience with A/B testing tools, including Monetate, ensuring proper test setup and execution.
  • Front-End Development: Strong proficiency in JavaScript, HTML, and CSS to implement and modify test variations.
  • Performance & Site Optimization: Understanding of web performance metrics and techniques to improve performance and usability. Experience or working knowledge of Adobe Analytics.
  • Collaboration & Communication: Ability to work effectively with eComm Events, Monetisation and Trading teams as well as UX, Product, and Development teams, translating test insights into actionable recommendations.
  • Agile & Iterative Mindset: Experience working in agile environments, running fast-paced experiments, and iterating based on results.
