The Role:

Due to growth within UK programmes, we will need talented DevOps Engineers throughout the course of 2026…

Duties include participating in daily scrums, performing software requirements analysis, risk identification, risk mitigation, and collaboration across Agile teams. Flexible cross‑training to also provide systems engineering, software development, training, security, and testing is also desired.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Designs, creates, and maintains databases in a client/server environment.
  • Plan and execute migration of database and associated data from physical/IaaS to virtual AWS instances.
  • Configures database for optimal performance, resilience, replication, reporting, administration and data backup/archiving regime.
  • Designs, implements, and maintains complex databases with respect to SQL, access methods, access time, device allocation, validation checks, organization, protection and security, documentation, and statistical methods.
  • Applies knowledge and experience with database technologies, development methodologies, and front‑end (e.g., COGNOS)/back‑end programming languages (e.g., SQL). Performs database programming and supports systems design.
  • Contribute to runbooks for maintenance of database dictionaries, overall monitoring of standards and procedures, file design and storage, and integration of systems through database design.
  • Align with existing Leidos delivery standards and identify/craft/suggest improvements thereon.

What does Leidos need from me:

  • Software engineering experience
  • Considerable experience with developing software code in AWS Services, Jira, Confluence, TestRail, SonarQube, Robot, Python, Bitbucket, Jenkins, TerraForm, Ansible, Unix bash scripting IaC and an appreciation for the SDLC
  • Considerable experience in translating user stories into engineering deliverables and associated documentation.
  • Perform systems software development, including deployment of build artifacts across different environments leveraging GitFlow constructs.
  • Considerable experience with automated build/test/deploy.
  • Considerable experience with AWS, SME (Wintel / Unix / Virtualised Networking / Monitoring / Security).
  • Experience of SAFe.
  • Collaborator, self‑starter.
  • Ability to work in fast‑paced environment and deliver results at key milestones and targets.
  • Align with existing Leidos delivery standards and identify/craft/suggest improvements thereon.
  • Excellent English, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Must be a UK Citizen and based in UK for the duration.
  • Must have, or be able to obtain, a UK SC Clearance.

Clearance Requirements:

  • Clearance to Start BPSS.
  • Clearance for Role SC.
  • You must be willing to undergo SC or DV clearance dependent upon the security requirements for the role.
