Job summary

Belcan is seeking a Detention Engagement Officer in Strathaven, Scotland. The role is a fully office-based contract (approx. 6 months) involving resident engagement, case progression and secure operational duties.

You will conduct inductions, manage a resident portfolio, record updates, and liaise with stakeholders. The role demands discretion, compliance with clearance requirements and flexibility to work early/late shifts.

Qualifications

• Eligible for Counter Terrorism Clearance (CTC).
• Disclosure Scotland Enhanced non barred/ DBS Enhanced non barred.
• Proficient in MS Word, Outlook and Excel.
• Able to travel independently to the site location (no public transport).
• Full availability to work rotating shifts.

Responsibilities

• Conduct face-to-face resident engagements, including inductions and assessments.
• Manage a portfolio of residents and provide case updates.
• Accurately record interactions on internal systems.
• Work with suppliers and stakeholders.
• Identify and manage vulnerability indicators per policy.
• Support administrative tasks like inbox management and calls.
• Contribute to management reporting and escalation when needed.

We're hiring for a Detention Engagement Officer position based in Strathaven, Scotland. This is a fully office-based opportunity with our client, offering the chance to play a vital role in resident engagement, communication and case progression within a secure operational environment.

Key Responsibilities

• conduct face-to-face resident engagements, including inductions and assessments, while ensuring clear communication regarding processes, expectations, and available options
• manage a portfolio of residents
• provide case updates
• accurately record interactions on internal systems
• work closely with suppliers and stakeholders
• identify and manage vulnerability indicators in line with policy
• support administrative activities such as inbox management and telephone enquiries
• contribute to management reporting
• escalated issues appropriately when required

Requirements

Essential Skills & Experience

• Successful applicants must meet eligibility requirements to obtain CTC level of Clearance (Counter Terrorism Clearance)
• Disclosure Scotland Enhanced non barred or DBS Enhanced non barred
• Ability to manage challenging situations professionally
• Leadership potential and confidence when engaging with a range of stakeholders
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel
• Personal Safety Training Level 2, SPEAR training
• Full availability to work rotating shifts
• Ability to travel independently to the site location (no public transport available)

Desirable

• Previous experience within resident engagement, customer-facing, operational, public sector or case management environments
• Experience maintaining accurate records and case notes

Working Pattern

This Detention Engagement Officer role is 100% office based and full-time. The position requires flexibility to work early and late shifts across weekdays, weekends and public holidays. Weekend working is expected on a 1-in-3 rota basis.
