Exciting opportunity for a proactive and detail-oriented Design Manager to contribute to the successful delivery of a significant GBP20 million healthcare project in London with a leading main contractor. This role involves working as a key member of the project team, providing crucial support to the lead Design Manager across all stages of the design process.

Our client, a well-respected and established main contractor with a strong track record in the healthcare sector, is seeking a collaborative and technically proficient Design Manager to support the design delivery of this important scheme. This is an excellent opportunity to gain experience on a major healthcare project and collaborate with experienced professionals.

Key Responsibilities

1. Support the lead Design Manager in managing the design process for the GBP20m healthcare project.
2. Act as a primary contact for design-related queries, working closely with the client, design consultants, and internal teams under the guidance of the lead.
3. Assist in developing and monitoring the design programme.
4. Review and provide detailed feedback on design information, identifying potential issues or clashes.
5. Coordinate and manage external design consultants.
6. Ensure design compliance with relevant regulations, building codes, and healthcare standards.
7. Contribute to value engineering exercises and explore design solutions.
8. Assist in preparing and distributing design team meeting minutes.
9. Track and report on design progress, highlighting delays or risks to the lead Design Manager.
10. Support the smooth flow of design information to the construction team.
11. Contribute to maintaining and improving the company's design management processes.

About You

1. Proven experience as a Design Manager or Assistant Design Manager, preferably with healthcare project exposure.
2. Good understanding of the design and construction process, including relevant legislation and standards.
3. Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration.
4. Excellent attention to detail and a proactive problem-solving approach.
5. Proficiency in relevant design and project management software.
6. Relevant degree or professional qualification in a design-related discipline (e.g., Architecture, Building Services, Structural Engineering).
7. Willingness to learn and develop your design management skills in a supportive environment.
