Job summary

Allen Associates in Oxford is seeking a Practice Manager to lead HR, payroll and patient services in a busy NHS general practice. The role combines on-site leadership with flexible, hybrid working and requires strong knowledge of UK employment law and healthcare regulations.

You will manage around 80 staff, coordinate with senior leadership, and drive patient experience improvements while maintaining regulatory compliance and a patient-first ethos.

Qualifications

  • CIPD Level 3 or working towards it.
  • Strong knowledge of UK employment law and full employee lifecycle management.
  • Proven experience managing HR processes, payroll, and patient communication.
  • Experience within a GP practice and exposure to medical regulations is highly desirable.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of handling patient correspondence and complaints.
  • Ability to contribute to practice strategy at a senior level.
  • Proficiency in digital health tools, ideally EMIS, and experience working within regulated healthcare environments.

Practice Manager

Practice Manager Responsibilities

This position will involve, but will not be limited to:

  • Managing all HR processes, including recruitment, onboarding, and ongoing employee development to support a team of approximately 80 staff members.
  • Handling patient correspondence, complaints, and service improvement initiatives to enhance patient satisfaction and experience.
  • Supporting payroll processing and ensuring compliance with employment law and NHS policies.
  • Contributing to the development of practice strategies alongside senior leadership, including the Operations Manager and Practice Manager.
  • Handling high-level communication with patients and external stakeholders to maintain standards of care and service.
  • Assisting with day-to-day operational issues and providing leadership within the practice.
  • Ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations and standards in all HR and patient-facing activities.

  • Salary between £30 and £37,500, depending on experience.

Practice Manager Experience Essentials
  • CIPD Level 3 or working towards it.
