Job summary

The Practice in Oxford is seeking a skilled Practice Manager to lead HR, payroll, and patient communications within a busy NHS GP setting. You will drive staff development for ~80 team members and collaborate with senior leadership to shape practice strategy, ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations and NHS policies.

Responsibilities include handling patient correspondence, service improvements, and day-to-day operational leadership, with flexible start times and a patient-first ethos.

Qualifications

• CIPD Level 3, or equivalent HR qualification.
• Strong knowledge of UK employment law and full employee lifecycle management.
• Proven experience managing HR processes, payroll, and patient communication.
• Experience within a GP practice and exposure to medical regulations is highly desirable.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, able to handle patient correspondence and complaints effectively.
• Ability to contribute to practice strategy at a senior level.
• Proficiency in digital health tools, ideally EMIS, and experience in regulated healthcare environments.

Responsibilities

• Manage HR processes, recruitment, onboarding and ongoing staff development for ~80 staff.
• Handle patient correspondence, complaints, and service improvements to boost satisfaction.
• Support payroll processing and compliance with employment law and NHS policies.
• Contribute to practice strategies alongside senior leadership (Operations Manager and Practice Manager).
• Maintain high-level communication with patients and external stakeholders.
