We are seeking a highly skilled and effectivedeputy practice manager to support the Practice Manager with the smooth runningof the practice. The practice is situated in Dawley, part of Telford inShropshire with excellent rail and road links to all of the Midlands. The area of Dawley is suburban with a degreeof deprivation in a semi-rural environment, and a population that has a widerange of health needs.

Main duties of the job

Experience in leading, managing and developing ateam in a changing and challenging environment is essential and candidates mustbe passionate about developing high quality and effective patient services tosustain the take the practice forward in the future. Responsibilities willinclude management of the practice staff and patient services role as well assupporting with the overall day to day operation and delivery of primary careGP services.

Candidates will need a sound knowledge of businessmanagement, HR and finance and possess excellent communication skills at alllevels. Experience of working within primary care is desirable and being ableto work in a fast paced, ever-changing environment is essential.

  • GMS Practice of just over 10,500 patients consisting of 4 GP Partners and 2 Salaried GPs, Practice of 58 staff
  • Good achievers in QOF and medicines management, providing a wide range of enhanced services
  • CQC inspection rating in June 19 was Good.
  • Members of an established network of practices, with many ongoing activities including an extended hours program, and network collaborative working to provide patient services such as womens health, respiratory care, minor surgery.

Job responsibilities

Reporting to the Practice Manager (PM) and GP partners, theDeputy Practice Manager (DPM) role is to support the PM in the management andcoordination of all aspects of organisation functionality, motivating andmanaging staff, optimising efficiency and financial performance, and ensuringthe organisation achieves its long-term strategic objectives in a safe andeffective working environment.

Through innovative ways of working, support the PM inpromoting ED&I, SHEF, quality and continuous improvement, confidentiality,collaborative working, service delivery, learning and development and ensurethe organisation complies with UK legislation and both NHS and CQC regulations.

As this role will have access to a higher level ofconfidential data in the course of their employment, there is an expectationthat the post holder will always maintain the highest level of confidentialityand integrity. Sensitive information could be from either internal sources, orfrom external partner organisations.

The post-holder is an instrumental member of the generalpractice team.

The post holder is reportable to the Practice Manager on aregular basis.
