Location: Luton

Salary: 32,500 - 35,000 per annum + 40 per sleep-in

Shifts: 2 on / 4 off rota

We are seeking a compassionate, driven, and experienced Deputy Manager to join a well‑established children's residential home in Luton, supporting young people with Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (EBD). This is a fantastic opportunity for an ambitious professional ready to take the next step in their career – supporting the Registered Manager in providing outstanding care, leadership, and stability within a nurturing environment. You'll be joining an organisation that values teamwork, professional development, and putting children at the heart of everything they do.

The Role

As Deputy Manager, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the day‑to‑day running of the home and ensuring the highest standards of care and compliance are maintained. You'll lead by example, providing guidance and mentoring to the staff team and stepping up in the absence of the Registered Manager. Your focus will be on creating a safe, structured, and positive environment where young people feel supported to reach their full potential.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the Registered Manager in the overall management and leadership of the home.
  • Ensure that all care practices are consistent with Ofsted standards and the Children’s Homes (England) Regulations 2015.
  • Safeguard and promote the welfare and well‑being of all children and young people.
  • Lead, motivate, and develop the care team to deliver exceptional care and support.
  • Assist in staff supervision, rotas, and performance management.
  • Contribute to care planning, risk assessments, and regular reviews.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with young people, families, local authorities, and other professionals.
  • Ensure accurate documentation, reports, and records are maintained in line with company policies and regulations.
  • Support the Registered Manager in achieving "Good" or "Outstanding" Ofsted ratings.
About You
  • Minimum 1 year’s experience in a Deputy role within a children’s residential setting.
  • Level 3 or 4 Diploma in Children & Young People (required) and willingness to work towards Level 5 in Leadership & Management for Residential Childcare.
  • Strong understanding of safeguarding, child protection, and Ofsted compliance.
  • Experience supporting children and young people with EBD and complex needs.
  • Confident leadership skills with the ability to inspire and motivate others.
  • Excellent communication, organisation, and problem‑solving abilities.
  • Passionate about providing high‑quality, child‑centred care and helping young people achieve positive outcomes.
