Job summary

Salutem Care and Education is seeking a dedicated Deputy Manager to support the Registered Manager at Ashleigh House, Carrick. You will lead a compassionate team, ensure safe, person-centred care, and maintain high standards of practice while meeting CQC requirements.

You will develop staff, manage rotas, oversee care plans, and drive continuous improvement, with a focus on independence and quality outcomes for residents.

Qualifications

  • NVQ/Diploma in Health and Social Care (level 3/5) or working towards
  • Experience with individuals with communication difficulties desirable
  • Sound knowledge of CQC Regulations, Mental Capacity Act and Deprivation of Liberty Standards desirable

Responsibilities

  • Support the day-to-day management of the service, ensuring safe, effective, person-centred support
  • Promote health, safety, wellbeing, rights and independence of residents
  • Ensure compliance with CQC standards, safeguarding requirements and policies
  • Lead, supervise and develop support staff through recruitment, induction, training and performance management
  • Manage staff rotas and workforce planning to maintain safe staffing levels
  • Monitor quality assurance processes, incidents, risk assessments, care plans and records
  • Support audits and regulatory inspections and continuous service improvement
  • Build positive relationships with families, professionals, authorities and external agencies
  • Support occupancy growth and service development through effective partnership working
  • Act as role model and provide leadership in the absence of the Registered Manager
  • Investigate complaints and support resolution of staffing and operational issues

Job description

As a Deputy Manager you will assist the Registered Manager in all aspects of the day-to-day running of the home, this includes ensuring that the needs of the service users are met, managing the staff team, monitoring the quality of care and support, ensuring high standards of professional practice, whilst achieving compliance with external regulatory standards.

Reporting to the Registered Manager, the post holder will work to ensure that specialist and quality care and support for service users is maintained through assisting in the planning, implementation, supervision and evaluation of service user care and support. The Deputy Manager's will also be required to ensure that policies, procedures, systems and workplace practices are fully implemented and consistently applied.

You will be passionate about motivating and empowering your team and encouraging their development. You will also be an inspiring role model, leading by example, imparting knowledge, championing best practice and promoting new thinking, enabling the team to help the people we support to make choices and decisions, live each day to the fullest and develop life skills along the way.

Deputy Manager - Key Responsibilities

We are seeking a motivated and compassionate Deputy Manager to support the Registered Manager in delivering high-quality, person-centred care services.

Key duties include:
  • Supporting the day-to-day management of the service, ensuring individuals receive safe, effective, and person-centred support.
  • Promoting the health, safety, wellbeing, rights, and independence of the people we support.
  • Ensuring compliance with CQC standards, safeguarding requirements, company policies, and contractual obligations.
  • Leading, supervising, coaching, and developing support staff through recruitment, induction, training, supervision, and performance management.
  • Managing staff rotas and workforce planning to maintain safe staffing levels and high-quality service delivery.
  • Monitoring quality assurance processes, incidents, risk assessments, care plans, medication administration, and record keeping.
  • Supporting audits, regulatory inspections, and continuous service improvement initiatives.
  • Building positive relationships with families, professionals, local authorities, and external agencies.
  • Supporting occupancy growth and service development through effective partnership working.
  • Acting as a role model and providing leadership in the absence of the Registered Manager.
  • Investigating complaints and supporting the resolution of staffing and operational issues when required.

We are looking for a highly motivated team member who will either have or be working towards NVQ/Diploma in Health and Social Care level 3/5. Experience of working with individuals with communication difficulties is desirable. A sound working knowledge and understanding of CQC Regulations and Standards, the Mental Capacity Act and the Deprivation of Liberty Standards is also desirable.

  • Complete regular staff supervisions.
  • Be a positive role model in all aspects of our daily work life
  • Assist an individual when in crisis to manage their behaviours, You will have experience within health and social care, strong leadership and communication skills, a passion for delivering outstanding person-centred support, and a commitment to continuous improvement and regulatory compliance.
