As Deputy Manager, you will work in collaboration with the Store Manager to maximise profit, lead the team, deliver seamless operations, and ensure the store's success.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Participate actively in all aspects of store performance, reviewing sales, operations, and digital metrics weekly to identify priorities and drive improvements.
- Focus on delivering excellent product availability and cost control through effective processes.
- Create a culture of "sell a £, save a £" to maximise sales and profit.
- Achieve all set KPIs.
Job Opportunities:
- Support the Store Manager with Talking Shop initiatives and collaborate effectively with the Talking Shop representative.
- Drive team engagement through effective communication, appreciation, and respect for all team members.

- Proactively upskill the team using available resources, development options, and on-the-job coaching to grow talent and capabilities.
- Manage the team effectively using performance management processes and ongoing feedback.

- Conduct daily store walks to focus on customer experience and take appropriate actions.
- Model a proactive approach to customer service both in-store and at the doorstep.
- Ensure all cash handling and security policies are fully implemented.
- Deliver excellent digital service by implementing all "One Best Way" processes through the team.
- Ensure full legal compliance to minimise risks.
- Implement all health and safety policies to keep teams and customers safe.
Leadership:
- Lead by example to motivate the team and provide excellent customer service.
- Maintain approachability and respectfulness towards customers and colleagues.
- Work with enthusiasm and actively reduce waste.
- Show consideration for the business and its people.
- Take full responsibility for store operations, colleagues, and customers in the absence of the Store Manager.
- Communicate effectively through regular conversations and active listening.
- Plan and prioritise key tasks and activities in advance.
- Set the team’s pace by being hands-on and delivering a great store environment.
- Make sound decisions to solve problems for the store.
- Coach team members with targeted questions to enhance performance.
- Delegate tasks appropriately to team members.
- Motivate the team to uphold operational standards consistently.

- Proven experience in retail management.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment and manage priorities.

- Flexibility to work across different store locations.
