Job summary

Another Place, The Lake in the Lake District seeks a Deputy Head Housekeeper to support the Head Housekeeper and uphold high standards across all areas. You will guide a busy team, manage daily operations and ensure pristine bedrooms and public spaces.

You’ll lead with care, stay calm under pressure, delegate effectively, and work closely with maintenance and suppliers to deliver an exceptional guest experience.

Qualifications

• Experience in a supervisory or senior housekeeping role in a hotel or hospitality environment.
• Proven ability to lead, motivate and support a housekeeping team.
• Experience working with external suppliers is desirable.
• Strong knowledge of hotel housekeeping standards, inspections and deep cleaning.

Responsibilities

• Support and deputise for the Head Housekeeper in daily operations.
• Lead and support the housekeeping team with training and development.
• Maintain high standards across bedrooms, public areas and back-of-house spaces.
• Conduct room checks and support deep cleaning and bedroom readiness.
• Plan daily staffing and workloads to reflect business needs.
• Collaborate with Maintenance and external laundry provider to ensure availability of rooms, linen, equipment and supplies.
• Assist with recruitment, induction and staff development.
• Ensure adherence to Health & Safety, COSHH and fire procedures.

Our Deputy Head Housekeeper Role

We're looking for a Deputy Head Housekeeper to support our Head Housekeeper and take pride in maintaining the high standards our guests experience throughout their stay.

You’ll enjoy working with people, bringing your team together and understanding the important role Housekeeping plays in creating an exceptional guest experience.

You’ll notice the little details, stay calm when things get busy and take a practical, hands‑on approach to the role. You’ll be just as comfortable supporting and leading your team and organising the day as you are stepping in to support them when needed.

As our Deputy Head Housekeeper you'll be:

• Supporting and deputising for our Head Housekeeper in the day-to-day running of the Housekeeping department, taking responsibility for the department in their absence.
• Leading and supporting our Housekeeping team, ensuring everyone has the training and support they need.
• Maintaining consistently high standards across bedrooms, public areas and back‑of‑house spaces, in line with our brand standards and procedures.
• Carrying out room checks and supporting deep cleaning and bedroom readiness, ensuring our guests arrive to beautifully presented spaces.
• Planning daily staffing and workloads to reflect the needs of the business, while supporting the team when required.
• Working closely with Maintenance and our external laundry provider to ensure rooms, linen, equipment and supplies are well maintained and available.
• Supporting our Head Housekeeper with recruitment, induction, training and development within the team.
• Ensuring the department follows all relevant Health & Safety, COSHH and fire procedures, with appropriate checks in place.
• Encouraging your team to think responsibly about resources, waste and purchasing, and engage with our B Corp initiatives.
• Working closely with other departments to ensure Housekeeping contributes to a smooth and exceptional guest experience.

The skills you’ll be sharing with us:

• Previous experience in a supervisory or senior housekeeping role in a similar hotel or hospitality environment.
• Strong experience of supporting, leading and motivating a housekeeping team.
• Experience working with an external laundry provider is desirable.
• A good understanding of hotel housekeeping standards, room inspections and deep cleaning.
• Excellent attention to detail, organisation and time management.
• Strong communication skills and a supportive, approachable leadership style.
• The ability to delegate effectively, prioritise and manage competing demands in a busy hotel.
• The confidence to work independently, use your own initiative and remain calm under pressure.
• Basic IT skills and the ability to complete the administration required for the role.
• A flexible, hardworking and responsible approach.
• A genuine customer service focus and an understanding of the important role Housekeeping plays in the guest experience.

Experience of working with external suppliers, knowledge of COSHH and experience of training teams in housekeeping procedures would be particularly valuable.
