Job summary

The Depot Manager role at Kelling Group oversees the depot's operations, safety, and service delivery. You will lead a team, drive fleet availability, manage KPIs, and ensure compliant, hire-ready processes while upholding company standards and profitability.

Reporting to the Operations Director, you will build strong stakeholder relationships, coach staff, conduct reviews, and implement improvements across operations, fleet, and health & safety to meet customer expectations.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years in depot/operations/transport or service management.
• Proven leadership and people management experience.
• Strong planning, organisational and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
• Experience managing operational KPIs.
• IOSH Managing Safely or equivalent.
• Transport or hire industry experience.
• Experience leading change and continuous improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Lead, motivate, and develop all depot employees, creating a high-performing team.
• Set clear expectations and hold team members accountable for performance and standards.
• Conduct regular performance reviews and return-to-work interviews.
• Manage recruitment, onboarding, training and succession planning.
• Address performance concerns through coaching and formal processes.
• Conduct safety investigations and ensure corrective actions.
• Ensure training and competency assessments for all roles.
• Promote teamwork, accountability, and customer focus.
• Maintain day-to-day depot operations and ensure hire-ready or repair-in-progress units.
