Job summary

Bedfordshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is recruiting a Band 7 Labour Ward Coordinator for Luton & Dunstable Hospital. The role leads a multidisciplinary team, manages a caseload, and drives high-quality maternity care in line with NICE and Trust standards.

You will supervise midwives and support staff, promote learning, and ensure safe, evidence-based practice while working weekends, nights and holidays as required.

Qualifications

• Registered midwife with current practice status.
• Degree in midwifery or equivalent and ongoing education.
• Advanced neonatal and obstetric care training (MSPP/NALS/CMU).

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership to the maternity team and manage clinical workflow.
• Ensure safe staffing levels, risk management and patient safety.
• Lead continuous professional development and education.
• Coordinate care across ante, intra, and postnatal settings.
• Oversee recruitment, appraisals and performance reviews.
