Job summary

Southend University Hospital NHS Trust is recruiting a permanent Labour Ward Manager to lead the Labour Ward and oversee the maternity service at Southend Hospital. The post focuses on delivering women‑centred, evidence‑based care and strong leadership across the team.

You will design antenatal, intrapartum and postpartum care programmes, provide expert clinical advice, and support the Maternity Matron/Head of Midwifery. Some travel within the service and on-call duties may be required.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Labour Ward and oversee the maternity service.
• Design and implement antenatal, intrapartum and postpartum care programmes.
• Provide clinical leadership to the multidisciplinary team.
• Rotate to other clinical areas and participate in on-call roster and flexible shifts.
